You could be wearing one. There could be one in your house or car. One is monitoring the quality of your tap water right now.

By 2020 it's estimated that over 50 billion devices will be connected to the internet. Steam and machines defined the first industrial revolution. Software and hardware are now defining the next.

SolidCon2014 is exploring the intersection between hardware and software. Exploring the human experience and connection to this revolution is my passion.

I've been given media credentials for this event happening May 21-22 in San Francisco. I'm asking for your help to get me there (flight), stay there (accomodation), and to get around there (ground transportation).

With topics like, "The Internet of Things  Democracy", "Wearables at Work", and "Aging in Place", and the gathering of top thought leaders, it's a dialogue worth sharing.

I think deeply about the meaning of this. It's not just about cool stuff. I care about the social impact this technological revolution will have. This will change us, our communities, our work and workplaces. It will create global change.

What will this industrial revolution mean to our kids, and their kids?

Here are onetwothree stories that I hope will capture your imagination.

We need to keep humanity in our conversations about technology, and I hope you'll appreciate my take on the subject.

There will be some amazing stories to discover at SolidCon. Please help me get there to share them with you.

I'm sincerely grateful for your generosity. Thanks for supporting me in lending a voice to this important conversation.

Now that we've acheived this goal and some fantastic stories will be coming out of SolidCon, it's time to take on a bigger challenge.

The most important tool to bring these experiences to life is the laptop. With your continued generosity I'll be able to upgrade this old laptop PC to a MacBook Air. It's about taking an exponential leap forward in productivity.

I'm all in. It's a life mission to share great stories matters. You with me?
