My daughter, Brooke, is in her second year of the Peace Corps. She's teaching english to 200 students in the village of Bandajuma, located in the Pujehn District of Sierra Leone. Sierra Leone is currently the third poorest country in the world, and the rebellion surrounding the diamond trade all but dessimated the village in which she lives. The village of over 1000 has basically no power (two charge stations for powering cell phones). Her students walk up to 7 miles to get to school. Many students can not come to school every day as they help provide for their families – 95% of the town are farmers. With your help, much needed solar panels can be made and installed to provide power for computers to help students learn. Printers can be powered to provide teaching materials, which currently have to be printed some 30 miles away. With your help these students will have a chance to help build a more vibrant and educated community.
