About:

Created and run by children, Soothing Sounds provides MP3 players loaded with familiar and comforting music for older generations. The typical recipient of this gift is one who has been diagnosed with Dementia.DescriptionHello everyone we are Julian and Liam and we have created a special project called “Soothing Sounds”. “Soothing Sounds” is an idea that we created with our family to help elderly people with music to help bring them happiness.

We came up with this idea because of our great-grandmother. A few years ago Great-Grandma Fay was diagnosed with dementia. Eventually, she stopped speaking. It was upsetting and confusing at first that she didn’t talk to us.

One day about 5 months ago, our dad put headphones on her, so she could listen to music. He selected music that she was familiar with and she listened to it every day. A couple months ago our Grandma, her daughter, received a phone call. It was our Great Grandma Fay. The call was a miracle. We believe that music opened up her mind and helped her to speak again.

Our goal is to get help people with our music project. Please help us get gently used or new iPod Shuffles (or iPods/mp3 players that are easy to use) and iTunes cards or cash/check donations to help us bring music into people's lives. We will share the results of our project over time.
