Lindsey Cates, owner of Lilu’s Baby Bowitue, has genetic heart and kidney problems and has had heart surgeries to try and fix the issue, which were unsuccessful. She has a disorder/disease called "dysautonomia", which means that her autonomic nervous system doesn't work...which means that none of her body systems work how they should. So, her body doesn't have the ability to regulate temperature, ...blood pressure, heart rate, balance, digestion, circulation, hydration, etc. She has the tendency to collapse/black out frequently because of it...which has forced her to work from home. Many people with her condition end up wheelchair bound, with feeding tubes, weekly IV fluids, and pacemakers. Her goal is to prevent those things from happening!

She is returning to The Mayo Clinic to undergo LOTS of autonomic and genetic testing. The doctors are going to try to determine what type of "dysautonomia" she has as well as underlying issues that might be complicating things (there are many rare disorders that go along with dysautonomia)...so hopefully they can figure out a treatment plan that will help improve her quality of life! She will be having a TON of tests done...and they will be expensive. Money raised will be going towards travel expenses and the gigantic medical bill that will be developing during herweek-long (hopefully not more than that) stay at Mayo next month.
