On New Year's Eve morning we received a call from a woman who found a box with a momma cat and 6 one day old kittens by her dumpster. It was 7 degrees outside.

We rushed to her house to find 2 frozen dead kittens and 2 half frozen kittens and 2 fairly warm kittens. We rushed the 4 to the Eastern Maine Emergency Veterinary Clinic where one of the half frozen kittens died. After warming them up and receiving fluids, we brought momma and the remaining three home. We named momma Hope and the the three remaining kittens Faith, Happy and Peace. Peace was the half frozen kitten.

We then started bottle feeding the two healthier kittens and we tube fed Peace. We had to make an incubator of sorts to help them stay warm. We would put them with momma Hope for a few hours each day but the oddity is that she only has one nipple. No veterinarian can understand what happened to the others (maybe frozen) so she cannot nurse.

We continued caring for everyone and little Peace would have seizures which progressively got worse and on Monday, January 7, we set his spirit free. By Wednesday, Faith and Happy stopped eating and on Friday they made their third trip to the veterinary office. They were given fluids and put on antibiotics. They had very high fevers. Momma Hope was not doing well either and was given the same fluids and antibiotics.
Today, January 16, we are still tube feeding Faith and Happy but they are lively and seem to be getting better. Their fever has broke and we hope in time they eat on their own. Momma Hope seems to be on the mend also.

We have incurred over $340 in vet bills already and another $100 in formula. They are only going on 3 weeks old and we still have a long road ahead of us. If you wish and can help us care for these kittens it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you and....please pray for them.
