Hello everyone, my name is Tim and I need your help to raise $1250. For those that don’t know me, here is my story and why I need your help. About 7 years ago I left my career to return home to care for my elderly mother and so that she may stay in her home as long as possible. After a few years her health declined to a point that she needed to be moved to a nursing home. We spent about $200k for her care during these final years. She went home to the Lord in 2009. After she moved into the nursing home I was hoping to return to my career, however God had other plans for me. I thought I was having a heart attack one evening, so I went to the ER. I awoke the next morning in intensive care and was released 3 days later and given references to several Dr’s for many tests. Over the next 6 mo’s my health declined significantly, I had 3 different surgeries and finally in March of 09 I was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma along with many other debilitating ailments. I of course had no insurance and I was denied Disability and Medicaid at that time. I began a 6 mo course of bi-weekly Chemotherapy and completed a month of daily radiation treatments. Even though I still had several other health problems to deal with, I was Cancer free. I had accumulated over $300k in medicals expenses to this point. I exhausted all of my cash, savings and retirement investments. I was now surviving on selling all of my personal belongings on e-bay, flea markets and several garage sales. I even sold my microwave and coffeemaker in order to survive another week. In the summer of 2010 I had a follow up CT scan and was informed that I had a suspicious growth on my left kidney, probably Renal Cell Carcinoma (Kidney Cancer). I needed a biopsy to confirm and was told if positive I would have a 15% chance of surviving 3 yrs if kidney was not removed. With no funds or insurance I couldn't persuade a Urologist to treat me. I applied for Disability and Medicaid again and with God’s blessing and a helpful case worker, I was awarded SSI of $698 a mo and full Medicaid. Fast forward- after 2 bouts with cancer, 13 surgeries, 23 CT’s, 4 PET’s, 16 Dr’s and I can’t even count how many drugs, tests and hospital stays, I am cancer free and in relatively good health. About 4 months ago I started a job search which I knew wasn't going to be easy with my recent events and the fact that I live in a smaller town and would have to travel to the Daytona or Orlando markets for employment. I have had a few interviews and even a job offer that was later retracted. Now here is my current problem and immediate need. Because of the financial need I sold my newer truck and bought a 1994 Chevy 1500 on e-bay about 3 yrs ago. About 4 mos’ ago the transmission began to fail. I still had 1st and 2nd gears so I could travel locally. This past week it failed altogether leaving me stranded at home and having no way to continue my search for employment. My home is a year and half into foreclosure so the clock is ticking. I have no resources and no family to ask for help. I have had a few wonderful friends that have given unsolicited help while on this journey but now I have no recourse other than to humble myself and ask for help. A local mechanic has offered to help out with a substantial discount. The $1250 I am hoping to raise would pay for a transmission rebuild and a few other repairs in order to return the truck to full drivability. Those that have known me a long time know what a proud person I am and that I would only be doing this if it was absolutely my only choice. It’s the holidays and I realize money may be tight but if you can even donate a few dollars, share my story with others and if God finds me deserving enough, I may reach my goal. I humbly give you my fullest thanks for your help and wish you a very Happy Holiday Season.
