Brennan has been diagnosed with Juvenile Nasopharyngeal Angio-fibroma (JNA), an extremely rare tumor that occurs in teenage boys, making up for only 0.001% of all head and neck tumors in children. It is behind and below his right eye, about the size of an orange, and has begun to encroach upon the skull, orbital bone, optic nerves, and carotid artery. Brennan is currently taking an experimental medication through St. Jude’s in an attempt to shrink the tumor. Due to the aggressive and vascular nature of the tumor, and the fact that they grow back, he will be sent to a skull-based surgery center to undergo multiple resection surgeries over the next several years.
