Kassady is battling multiple chronic illnesses, including Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome with ictal episodes, Gastroparesis/DTP, Hypoglycemia, Vitamin D Deficiency, Small Fiber Neuropathy, Fibromyalgia, Depression, Anemi More ...

Kassady is battling multiple chronic illnesses, including: Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (EDS), Gastroparesis (GP)/Digestive Tract Paralysis (DTP), Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS)/Dysautonomia w/ ictal episodes, Lymphocytic Colitis (LC), Fibromyalgia (FMS), Pernicious Anemia (PA), Iron Deficiency Anemia (IDA), Vitamin D Deficiency, Osteopenia, Hypoglycemia (HG), GERD, Small Fiber Neuropathy (SFN), Mast Cell Activation Disorder (MCAD), Psoriatic Arthritis (PSA), TMJ, Chiari-0 Malformation (Occiput-C2 instability, plannar formation, retroflexed odontoid), and MTHFR (heterozygous C677T and A1298C). Kassady left work on September 10, 2012 on a doctor ordered medical leave. She was not able to return to her position when the FMLA period was over, as her POTS symptoms worsened, she still has increased ictal episodes, and has weekly home care nursing for her infusion therapy (Since May 2014). Typically, Kassady has at least one medical test or appointment in a week, sometimes two different providers in a day!

What causes Kassady to be so sick?! EDS is a group of inherited disorders that mostly affect the skin, joints, and blood vessels. Basically, it's a connective tissue disorder, the collagen (what holds us together) is faulty and doesn't work properly, creating problems in nearly every body system. It certainly doesn't account for everything, as many of the other dx's also contribute their fair share.

Kassady's medical team includes a primary care physician, several GI doctors, a pain management psychologist, rheumatologist, psychiatrist, neurologist, cardiologist, hematology oncologist, pulmonologist, electrophysiologist, physical therapist, occupational therapist, casemanager, dietician, ortho, orthopedic surgeon, internist, general surgeon, allergy and immunology, endocrinology, TMJ specialist, spine specialist, dermatologist, opthamologist, ENT, OB/GYN, and a colorectal surgeon.

Initially, Kassady qualified for both short and long term disability through her former employer, but for some reason the company decided that as of December 9, 1014, she 'no longer met the definition of disabled.' - The day before her Social Security Disability hearing. On the date of Kassady's disability hearing, her attorney told her, "You just won your case," as they were leaving the hearing room. On March 14, 2015, Kassady received her Decision - unfavorable notice and is once again in appeals (Original file date - September 2012).

At this point in time, the situation is dire... The house Kassady and her boyfriend are living in was officially foreclosed up. They currently have no where to go and no money to rent anything. They are receiving shut off notices for utilities and are worried about losing the only transportation that they have. Of course, the finiancial stress is not helping things physically.
