How the ALL HANDS Campaign Started
The connection between A&H Steel and Harvest Project started
with a food drive
In 2021, A&H Steel ran its first holiday food and cash donation campaign for Harvest Project. It was a simple thing: a bin in the shop, a note to employees, an invitation to clients and suppliers across the industry, resulting in quite a pile of donations by the end of it. What nobody expected was that it would become something both organizations looked forward to every year. | By 2023, it had grown. That spring brought the first Spring Clean Out, a clothing drive with donations coming from A&H employees as well as A&H clients and suppliers. Four more Spring Clean Outs have run since, each one pulling more of the construction industry into Harvest Project’s orbit.
|
![]() | The idea for the ALL HANDS Campaign came out of a conversation between Tanner Younghans of A&H Steel and Philippe Ségur of Harvest Project. Standing over a pile of donated clothing, they discussed the possibility of engaging a brewery to partner with them to design a label called the “Change Order” lager.Harvest Project would have their name on the label, as would the companies interested in participating. A dollar of every can sold would go to Harvest Project in support of their programs. The campaign would run through the fall, landing in hand for December, when companies have already budgeted for staff and client holiday gifts. |
Beva Brewing in North Vancouver said yes. The ALL HANDS Campaign is the result.

For over thirty five years, Harvest Project has stood beside people on the North Shore facing job loss, illness and family breakdown, not with a hamper and a handshake but by sitting down with them and staying until they are back on their feet.
They call it extending a hand up, not a handout. Every company that puts their logo on the can is saying publicly it believes in the people Harvest Project serves.
To everyone who has backed this campaign, thank you.
It only works when we as an industry put ALL HANDS into the project!
THANK YOU!
