Building Opportunity for the Pacific
The Problem
Across American Samoa and the Pacific Islands, thousands of aspiring entrepreneurs, students, farmers, artisans, nonprofits, and small businesses have the talent and determination to succeed—but too often lack access to the technology, training, mentorship, funding, and business resources needed to turn their ideas into reality.
Many communities face geographic isolation, limited access to innovation ecosystems, and fewer opportunities to participate in today's digital economy. As a result, promising businesses struggle to grow, young people leave in search of opportunities elsewhere, and local innovation remains untapped.
At the same time, American Samoa holds a unique advantage as the only U.S. territory in the South Pacific, yet this strategic position has not been fully leveraged to connect U.S. businesses, investment, and innovation with Pacific Island communities.
Our Solution
The IslandTech Foundation is creating the Pacific Islands Innovation Center (PIIC) —a transformative initiative designed to bridge these gaps.
Beginning with a cloud-based digital platform and growing into a physical innovation center, PIIC will provide entrepreneurs and organizations with access to:
- Business coaching and mentorship
- AI-powered business tools
- Entrepreneur training and online learning
- Grant and funding resources
- Digital technology and workforce development
- Market connections and regional partnerships
- Startup incubation and innovation support
By bringing these resources together in one place, PIIC will help individuals and organizations build stronger businesses, create jobs, and unlock new opportunities across American Samoa and the Pacific.
