Our monthly speaker series brings newsmakers, policymakers, and seasoned political observers together for a behind-the-scenes look at the most pressing issues facing Arkansas. These lunch lectures raise money for the Arkansas Times Investigative Journalism Project. 100% of the proceeds will support expanding our newsroom, ensuring our capacity to hold leaders accountable and keep Arkansans informed.
In-person tickets are $100 and include lunch in the private dining room at the Copper Grill. Seating is limited , so we highly recommend securing your seats sooner rather than later as this series is known to fill up quickly. Lunch is served at 11:30 with food provided by the amazing chefs at Copper Grill. Our guest speaker will begin at 12 pm promptly, followed by a Q&A session If you're unable to attend in person, we have the option to attend virtually for $50 . If you have purchased a virtual ticket your Zoom access link will be send to the email address provided at checkout the morning of the event. Ticket sales end 2 hours before lecture start time. With any ticket purchase, you are supporting Arkansas Times and our mission to stay your local and independent newsroom. About Judge Griffen
Wendell Griffen, a retired judge and pastor, is a highly
respected figure in the realm of social justice.
With a diverse background in law, theology, and activism,
he has dedicated his life to standing up for
the rights of the oppressed and challenging established norms.
Griffen served for 12 years on the Arkansas Court of
Appeals and 13 years on the 6th Judicial Circuit
of Arkansas (Fifth Division) before retiring from the
judiciary in December 2022. As pastor of New
Millennium Church in Little Rock, Arkansas, he is a public
theologian whose discernment and
prophetic faith provide insights about societal and global
issues of truth, justice, peace, and hope.
In addition to his legal and pastoral work, Griffen is the CEO of Griffen Strategic Consulting, PLLC. Through his consulting firm, he leverages his expertise to provide guidance and support to individuals and organizations seeking to create positive change in their communities. Griffen’s writings and speeches demonstrate deep convictions and commitment to justice. In addition to Parables, Politics, and Prophetic Faith (Nurturing Faith, 2023) and The Fierce Urgency of Prophetic Hope (Judson Press, 2017), Griffen maintains a prolific online presence through his blogs: Fierce Prophetic Hope, Wendell Griffen on Cultural Competency, and Justice Is A Verb!
As a co-chair of the Samuel DeWitt Proctor Conference,
Griffen plays an active role in organizing and
advocating for social justice initiatives. Through this
conference, he helps bring together diverse voices
and perspectives to create a united front against systemic injustice.
Griffen’s dedication to transforming society and promoting
equality has earned him national
recognition and numerous awards. His fearless commitment
to shining a light on injustice and his
unwavering belief in the power of prophetic hope have made
him a tireless advocate for a more just
and compassionate world.
