Well On their Way - a healthy start for every mother and baby
The equity gap in health care throughout the world is wide, particularly for the newborn baby. WOtW is narrowing that gap in one corner of the world, Gulu District in northern Uganda, by empowering front-line health workers with skills, knowledge and equipment, to provide high standard evidence-based care for mothers and babies.
EXPANDING OUR IMPACT
Having recently added two new initiatives, WOTW is now focused on three interconnected programs that strengthen the full continuum of maternal and newborn care:
- Sustaining Helping Mothers/Babies Survive skills through ongoing refresher training
- Village Health Team (VHT) Training – empowering community health workers to promote maternal and child health in their communities (new in 2025!)
- Obstetric Point of Care Ultrasound - training ten midwives (new in 2026!)
Each program reinforces the others. Better outcomes depend on strong systems that start in the village and lead to the health facility.
We are so grateful for donor support, as that is what makes this important and impactful work happen. Donated money goes a long way in Uganda and every dollar is spent with great care.
