Poisoned Ivies: The Documentary
About the Project: “In Thy Light Shall We See Light,” proclaims the Latin crest of Columbia University, an enduring emblem of America's elite academic tradition. Yet within its classical architecture and ivy-covered walls in Morningside Heights, a troubling darkness has taken root. "Poisoned Ivies” investigates the deepening crisis in higher education through the lens of Columbia University in the tumultuous wake of October 7th, 2023. By illuminating how campuses transformed from institutions dedicated to teaching students how to think into battlegrounds imposing what to think, this film uncovers a microcosm reflecting a nationwide phenomenon decades in the making. Ultimately, "Poisoned Ivies" confronts a pressing question: what is at stake for America's future—and indeed, the future of free thought and democracy itself—if academia does not urgently recalibrate?
