Rachel's Story:
This photo is of my family on New Year's Day 2020 - full of optimism and excitement. Now, here we are with an entirely new reality.
We can all agree that this pandemic has changed our day to day lives - how we think, what we do, who we see, where we go. It's also deeply affected many of us, and eve of the lesser effects are still quite painful.
In my own household, we have financial uncertainty, we have been unable to see our parents who live across the country, and we watch our teenage daughters try to be resilient as they miss out on academics, sport and social activities they'd worked hard for.
While we try to adapt, science is what ultimately is going to allow us to get back to more normal activities and for the economy to recover.
Having volunteered and worked for the American Lung Association for several years, I trust in their dedication to championing lung health - including eradicating respiratory diseases like COVID-19.
