Jake’s family reached out to us as a last resort. The family veterinarian suggested euthanasia for this overweight paraplegic, but never helped the family with a diet or the right medications.  With a sick child at home they were at their wits end, so Jake 4 joined the DRBC family this weekend.

He has been with us less than 48 hours and has already had one emergency trip for radiographs and a suspected blockage.  His need for care will not end there though.  This guy has begun the battle against IVDD with laser treatments and medications, but it is clear that a trip to Red Bank Veterinary, our Neurological Center of Excellence, is in order.  You see, Jake still has deep pain sensation and we still have hope.

Unlike some rescues, we don’t run to surgery often, but in Jakes case we feel that time is critical if we are to get him up and moving someday.  Here is where the DRBC Gang comes in!  Yep, we need YOU!  This is a big one.

So, what are we looking at for all this?  Blood work, MRI, surgery, hospitalization and medication will be $8500.  We know what you are saying….shut the front door, but this little guy deserves that chance. Come on Gang, no one of you is going to make this happen…it is going to take the village so tell you friends, share the story and let’s raise the funds!  Together we can make it happen!

Remember, generous support is desperately needed and greatly appreciated.  Like many non-profit organizations DRBC is a 501[c][3] operated solely by volunteers.  We have been dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, re-homing and educating families about this breed for almost 36 years.  We welcome and need your benevolent tax-deductible donation.  Please, help us to help them.

We welcome you to stay tuned for updates.  Until then, Jake, all the rescue doxies and the DRBC Team thank you.
