One Kindness Challenge hasn't added a story.
Do one act of kindness a day for 21 days and watch your life change.
Ever feel like you're lacking in something in your life? Purpose, energy, happiness?
Maybe the solution isn't to buy more, to consume more, to work more, but to give more. Imagine waking up in the morning feeling incredible, inspired, and invincible. Imagine waking up feeling like that EVERY DAY.
This isn't a sales pitch for a pill, a membership, or some miracle retreat. The solution is not only free, it's also insanely simple.
We all have an image of ourselves as a hero. The person who, when you come across someone standing at the ledge of a bridge wanting to jump, can say the exact right things to talk them back. But what if being a hero is not talking someone off from the ledge, but saying "how are you doing?" Before they make that decision.
Numerous studies have proven, again and again, that doing a single act of kindness, repeated daily over several days, can raise your endorphins and seretonin levels (those are the chemicals that help make you feel happy, by the way!) Not only that, but even REMEMBERING the acts of kindness you’ve done can lower your stress levels (specifically, a chemical called cortisol).
The truth is, most of us are actually really kind at heart, we just forget to take actions. Or we inflate the idea of what kindness should be in our minds and we procrastinate it. The truth is, even the smallest acts like buying someone an act of coffee or writing a note of appreciation can add up to improve your happiness.
You have the power to be part of a tribe who, like you, want to make the world a greater place. Stand up and join that tribe.
an act of kindness felt immediately happier, more optimistic, and greater self-esteem
in their day, and 80% said that the feeling lasted for hours and even days.
-The Healing Power of Doing Good, Allan Luks

that regular acts of kindness and volunteering led to improvements in six areas
in their lives: happiness, life satisfaction, self-esteem, sense of control over life,
physical health and depression.
-P. A Thoits and L.N. Hewitt, "Volunteer Work and Well-being", Journal of Health and Social Behavior
Why do kind things?
Researchers have found that 95% of people experience an increase in happiness and self-confidence after completing a single act of kindness, and 81% of people can feel the “helper’s high” for days on end.
In a 2006 study, it was discovered that people who volunteer help for others had not just better cardiovascular health but even lower mortality rate for the elderly. Yes, kindness literally improves your heart!
A study of over 10,000 people from 33 countries discovered that kindness was directly influential to how attractive someone of the opposite sex was perceived.
Happier co-workers improve workplace productivity, and teams that focus on
a greater purpose experience significant increases in motivation, cooperation, and efficiency. After the 2004 tsunami, companies that donated to relief efforts saw unexpected increases to their stock prices.
How the One Kindness Challenge Works:
Step 1: Do
If you have a Kindness Band (more coming soon!), start your day by wearing it on the white side. You do NOT need a Kindness Band to take the challenge!
These could be small or big:
- Let someone cut in front of you in line.
- Buy a cookie or coffee for a stranger.
- Write a Thank You note to someone.
- Volunteer at a local cause you like.
Step 2: Flip
Not only is this a satisfying act to SEE that you've completed the challenge, it also allows those around you to notice that you've completed it, which makes it easier to keep the habit going.
Don’t forget to flip it back the next morning! Keep track of the number of days to see how long your streak is and compete with friends! If you miss a day, simply start over on the next day, no big deal.
Step 3: Share
One Kindness is a movement that's about getting a tribe of kind people together, making the world a better place. Once you've done an act of Kindness, go and challenge a friend to join you in doing one every day for at least 21 days in a row.
If you want, share your act on Instagram or our Facebook page so you can inspire more actions just like yours!
