Impact Nicaragua

On November 3rd, 2014, I will travel with a team CEOs, former pro-athletes and other dedicated men and women from Scottsdale, AZ 's Impact Church (the 2nd fastest growing church in the US) to Nicaragua to build homes, minister and help feed families. This is the 4th time in four years (my first) a team has gone to Nicaragua to make a difference. I saw the photos and raw video shot on cell phones from last year’s mission to Nicaragua. The images revealed the look of absolute joy, amazement, appreciation and, most importantly, hope in the eyes of the children as well the rest of their families' from the food, shelter and inspiration provided by the Impact team.

After seeing these images, I knew that this year I had to be a part of something this important, this special, this directly impacting on people’s lives. This wasn’t some disconnected and ethereal support of some cause that may be touted as fashionable or trendy. I'm getting anti-malaria pills to prepare for this trip, just to give you an idea. While other worthy causes are supported by a clever and effective ritual of dumping ice on your head, this trip is going to help people who don’t even have ice…let alone abundant clean water or a bucket to waste dumping over anyone's heads. This will be the team and I carrying buckets and bags to make concrete, digging trenches for foundations of homes and feeding families in the jungle. …I gladly accept “this” challenge.

In the US we live a life beyond the wildest dreams of 80% of the world’s population. Even America’s poorest 10% have more than a majority of the world. The bottom 5% poorest people in the US are still, on average, better off than the top 5% of those in India. One billion people in the world live below the poverty line (source: Forbes, 2013). We as Americans, as Christians, as leaders need to be the change we want to see in the world. I have elected to join the Impact team to go to Nicaragua and help the cause of building homes, ministering and feeding some of the poorest families of Nicaragua. I am asking for your financial support to help make this trip to Nicaragua possible – help me and our team help these families.
