I have a friend (Felix) who works at a restaurant here in Davao that I regularly eat at. I recently learned that he has been suffering from an infection that started from a small puncture wound for almost 8 years now.  He is in immediate need of medical care as it has now spread and damaged a very large area. (Approximately 5'' X 8") He has no way to pay for the treatment because of his low income. He earns just 300 pesos a day working at the restaurant which is the equivalent of around $7.

I asked him about the treatment that would be required and he said that he is supposed to be taking antibiotics and wearing a compression stocking at this time. The next step would be surgery to drain the area that has become infected and vein stripping.  The cost of the antibiotics and stockings will be around 3,500 pesos ($80). The surgery will cost around 30,000 pesos ($697). The total needed is around $775.

I have received an offline pledge of $250 so we only need to raise an additional $525 to get him the treatment that is needed. If we exceed that amount, I will give the additional funds to Felix to help offset his loss of income he will experience as a result of the surgery. According to Felix the expected recovery time is three weeks so that would certainly be a burden for him as well.

He is in considerable pain and at times it prevents him from coming to work. While I am not a doctor, there is no doubt that eventually this infection will prevent him from working entirely and his overall health will continue decline.  I did not make any promises, but if anyone would like to help please donate. As bad as the wound looks in the picture, it looks much worse in person. I will provide pictures of receipts and the treatment to verify that 100% of the money goes towards Felix's medical care and will post them to this page as well as my Facebook profile.

For those who can not help financially, please keep him in your prayers.
