International Rescue Group hasn't added a story.
Our Mission
International Rescue Group's mission is helping coastal and island communities in developing countries and providing first response aid to disaster impacted areas. We use sailboats to deliver medical and relief supplies to people in underserved areas often not reached by larger organizations. IRG is an all-volunteer 501(c)3 non-profit organization with no paid staff, so all donations are 100% tax deductable and all donations go toward delivering aid and supplies to populations in need.
2014 Voyage to Haiti
In February 2014, a volunteer crew was sailing to Haiti to deliver medical supplies on IRG's 56' ketch, "Tandemeer" (which was donated in November 2013), when her rudder broke. Fortunately, the cargo and crew were able to transfer to another IRG vessel (Thunderbird 5), and the mission to Haiti was successfully completed delivering the critical supplies to our NGO partners. You can read about the mission on our website.
Steering Tandemeer to Haiti
Tandemeer's rudder has been repaired (THANK YOU to everyone who donated to help cover the costs) and she recently sailed from Florida to Philadelphia and will be on her way to New York and Connecticut as soon as the transmission is rebuilt for additional refitting to make her ready for her next mission delivering much needed aid and relief supplies to Haiti this winter. Please help us to "Steer Tandemeer to Haiti" by making a donation to help refit and provision Tandemeer so we can continue delivering medical supplies to this under resourced region.
IRG Carribean Fleet Approximate Itinerary
