Hi everyone!

I would like to ask for help in supporting somebody who means a lot to me. Eddy and his beautiful family live in Vilanculos in Mozambique and are going through a really tough time at the moment.

Everyone that knows me have heard me talk enough about my time in Vilanculos. I went out there in 2010 and had the absolute pleasure of meeting Eddy, his wife and his children.

Eddy worked closely with us on every project we were involved in and threw so much energy into everything we did. He was a huge part of the African Impact team in Vil and everyone (including myself) who got to know him grew to absolutely adore him.

Eddy has 6 children and during my time working in the local pre school I saw just how much the children doted on him. I would confidently say that he is the most selfless, kind, helpful and funny person I have ever met who didn't spend a single day unhappy.

I was absolutely devasted to receieve the news that Eddy's wife has just died from a serious illness and complications with medication. Eddy has also recently contracted a severe illness himself. Since the African Impact project is no longer running in Vilanculos, Eddy doesn't have an income and has been left to care for his 6 children alone.

I have heard that Eddy's older daughters are being extremely brave and supporting their younger siblings. I have sadly not met all of Eddy's children but I have met his son Gomez, his daughter Julinha and I became extremely close with Eddy's little boys Ricardo and Christiano. They are all absolutely adorable and have the sweetest personalities. I can only image that Camila and Osvalda are exactly the same and they will all do a fantastic job at supporting each other.

With Eddy's health being so unstable and his family losing their wonderful mother, things are understandably incredibly tough.

The current plan is to find someone who can help care for the family and plant crops to provide them with food.

Sonja and Jude, who are both very close to Eddy, would really like to set up a trust fund for the children due to their unstable situation. They also need to raise money to help the person who will care for the family.

I would therefore love to raise some money for Eddy and his family as Eddy has done so much for others and deserves all the help in the world.

If you can spare even just a couple of pounds to donate on here that would be absolutely incredible.

Equally, support doesn't need to be through money. If anyone has any old clothes, games, toys or anything that is sitting unused/ going to charity, please please let me know.

Message me on Facebook if there is anything you can spare to send out to their family. I will then organise getting it sent to me and will be sending it out to someone who can take it to Eddy.

Everything that is donated is going directly into a bank account for him without passing through a charity.

Thank you so much for sparing the time to read this. I wish that everyone could have the chance to meet Eddy's family. x

So that you can put names to faces....

This is a picture taken yesterday of Eddy and his children. The boys have been sent some gifts which is lifting their spirits. Eddy even gave a thumbs up :)
