Equine Sharing Program is a non-profit program that is very close to my heart.  This Holiday Season I want to reinforce the power of giving, sharing, and make a difference in individuals and horses lives!  Over 12 years ago the most amazing women in my life, my Mom, Charlene Thomas organized this program to help those in financial need not be turned away from Therapeutic Horseback the program has over 120 riders a week!  With numerous governmental cutbacks, the program needs your help!

October 26, 2012, I lost the most amazing man in my life, my Father, Brock Thomas to a 4-year battle with Progressive MS., our last family picture is one of him on horseback in the program. Please watch the YouTube video to witness the powerful healing a horse can provide mentally and physically!

This program pulls at every heartstring attached to my heart and my hopes are to keep the funding going...and help every single rider in need!  PLEASE read our story, contact me for more information, and if you can, reach out and help me help others!

EQUINE SHARING PROGRAM - 'Where miracles are witnessed':

The relationship between disabled riders, ESP’s certified therapeutic riding instructors, and special therapy horses is the catalyst to miracles in handicapped lives. ESP’s program is about children and adults who reach beyond the confines of their disabilities because of the intervention of this special therapy team.

Physically, equine-assisted therapy takes disabled riders through complex series of movements, which consciously and unconsciously use all of the body’s muscles.  The horse rhythmically and naturally moves the body in a manner similar to the human gait, improving posture, balance and muscle control.

Mentally, equine-assisted therapy increases concentration, improves sequential thought processing, increases the rider’s ability to articulate emotions, and develops spatial awareness.

Emotionally, equine-assisted therapy provides the opportunity for riders to bond with the horse, instructor, and volunteers, which assist in the development of trust.  It is also effective in calming emotive outbursts and reinforcing appropriate behaviors.  Contact with the horses and horsemanship training provide a non-competitive setting for learning.  New abilities, self-discipline and improved concentration build self-confidence.

Socially, equine-assisted therapy nurtures a positive self-image.  Disabled riders often experience independence for the first time in their lives.  They also develop an awareness of being part of a team.  All riders have the ability to learn skills and participate in a recognized sport.  All riders grow in self-esteem, which they take back into their own worlds.

Equine Sharing Program, Inc. is a charitable organization exempt from income tax under section 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Code. This program was organized to fulfill a growing need for equine assisted therapy for handicapped individuals who do not have the financial means to pay for this program on their own.

Many health care providers, including occupational and physical therapists, are recognizing the many benefits horseback riding is providing for children and adults with disabilities or health problems. Even though horseback riding may be prescribed by a physician as therapy to improve a disability, the patient may not be eligible for assistance from a government agency and lacks funds of their own to be able to participate in an equine therapy program.

IT IS BECAUSE OF YOUR DONATIONS, eligible individuals will be able to experience the many benefits of horseback riding, which will improve their quality of life both physically and mentally through their interaction with the horse. Recipients will be granted scholarships to be used exclusively for therapeutic horseback riding from a qualified instructor certified by the North American Riding for the Handicapped Association (NARHA) at a riding facility that is a member center of NARHA. Our scholarship committee will select eligible scholarship recipients based upon available funds and financial need.
