Cora has a sarcoma (muscle tumor) in her neck that is pushing on her trachea and esophagus, greatly hindering her ability to breathe and eat.

November 8, 2013

Pals, I'd like to introduce you to our latest client of The Baxter Valentine Fund. Meet Cora! Corgi Mom Jennifer contacted us about Cora a few weeks ago after taking Cora to the vet to investigate a lump in Cora's neck/throat area. The diagnosis was not good. Cora has a sarcoma (muscle tumor) in her neck that is pushing on her trachea and esophagus, greatly hindering her ability to breathe and eat.

Here is Cora's story in the words of Corgi Mom Jennifer:

"We found Cora through the Sunshine Corgi Rescue. When she came to the rescue she was severely malnourished, had a respiratory infection, rashes on her stomach and back, broken bottom teeth, and tumors on her rear end. They were not even sure she was going to make it through the night. She was quite a trooper and pulled through. I waited several months for her to be rehabilitated to the point she could be adopted out. It was worth the wait, she is very much a sweetheart. Always ready for a good belly rub and loves to cuddle. When we adopted her back in March she was healthy. The rash was due to her being allergic to most dog foods and the tumors were removed and we were told they were benign. Cora loves to chase after her daddy (Justin). Its so funny to watch them run around the kitchen. She also loves to dive between us when were cuddling on the couch... she wants her cuddles too! Cora has quickly stolen our hearts and we love her dearly.

Thanks to Sunshine Corgi Rescue donating $500 and other donations I have received from friends and family we have started her therapy. Treatments are still very expensive and any help is very much appreciated. We have only raised about a 1/3 of the cost of the treatments. Which is still more then Justin and I can handle. We just didn't want to see her suffer anymore."

The tumor is too dangerous to remove, so the only option is Radiation Palliation therapy. This will not cure Cora, but will greatly improve her quality of life. Since Jennifer and Justin have raised some money for Cora on their own, CorgiPals has agreed to help with $1,200 of the $2,400 total estimate for Cora's care. The total goal of her fundraiser ($1,320) includes both Fundrazr and PayPal fees. Please help spread the word for this beautiful girl so we can help her continue receive the treatment she needs!
