This fund was created to help me pay my long time friend and midwife, Monika Rosika of Tree of Life Midwifery Services, to birth my baby at home.  I believe that as women, we are meant to give birth naturally, and we should have the right to choose what we feel is the best birthing choice for ourselves, our children, and family.  Already given birth in the hospital with Alana, even though I asked for an intervention free birthing experience, I felt like a lot of my rights were taken away from both of us and unneccessary procedures were given. This second birth has been extremely difficult on me and I feel that a homebirth will be the most healing thing for myself as well as provide Everett James McCormack the most peaceful entrance into the world!

Right now Medi-Cal does not cover any out of hospital births with Licensed Midwives and an at-home birth in the Bay Area will cost $6500.  I only need $2500 to cover most of my expenses. Two midwives will be in attendance for this fee and it includes all of my care (1-hour long regular prenatal visits, the birth & postpartum visits through the first 6 weeks).  FYI,  a hospital birth will be billed to my state (taxpayer funded) insurance, and will be upwards of $15,000.

I will send you a picture of baby Everett as gratitude for helping me achieve my dream birth.

Other ways you can help:

*Share our campaign and information about Midwifery and Homebirthing! Here are a few links showing studies showing the safety in this practice.

*Give us work!  Justin does electrical and welding work.  I fix and tutor on computers.

*Times are rough and you can't afford to help us?  How about a service?  A nice prenatal or new mommy massage, a day's worth of laundry, offer to watch the kids so I can take a nice warm shower?  Any offer would be greatly appreciated.

*Cook! Life is going to be busy while we adjust to our new bundle of joy.  A couple of homecooked meals will help our workload.
