Joshua Sellers is a 7 year old boy who was diagnosed with Type I Diabetes at 10 months old. Joshua suffers with lack of sleep, uncontrolled mood changes, headaches, nausea, cramping muscles and disorientation in his every day life due to his blood sugar levels fluctuating. Being unaware of his blood sugar levels reaching highs or lows, it is possible Joshua could have a seizure, pass out, coma or death.

This fundraiser is to support Joshua with the cost of having a Diabetic Alert Dog (DAD).

"Checkem" is a Labrador Retriever who assists Joshua in detecting the rising and falling levels of his blood sugar through scent and mannerism. Checkem has been trained to alert Joshua's parents so that corrections can be made and the possibilities of consequences are at less risk. The cost of Checkem is not your average cost for a dog, but the safety she provides Joshua and his family you can never put a price on.

We have organized an event "Jog for Dogs" which is a 5K run/walk/jog, only this time you can bring your favorite 4 legged friend to participate. Please check our Facebook page for details about the 5k at www.facebook.com/jogfordogsmidlothiantx

The cost of having a dog like Checkem is around $20,000. Our goal is to raise the money for Joshua's family.

If you are not local or cannot participate in the 5k we ask that you consider a monetary donation for Joshua and Checkem. Every donation is appreciated!
