Austin was last seen checking out of the Best Western Hotel in Asheville, NC on April 24, 2013. According to the desk clerk he was in a great mood and told her he was going home and would be back in a couple of months.
He was seen driving away in his brother's car, a 2003 Maroon Hyundai Sante Fe with Virginia tags - XMB7817.
Some of his friends have tried to locate him with no luck. We hired a private investigator who could find no trace of Austin.
There is a nationwide BOLO (Be on the Lookout) for Austin and the vehicle. The vehicle information was also placed on a national database that if seen would notify the police of where and when the vehicle was seen.
None of the above has produced any results. Austin would have been travelling from Asheville to Rt. 26, then pick up Rt. 81 in Johnson City to head to my home in Virginia.
And I firmly believe that he went off the road on Rt. 26. The private investigators attempted to find Austin and his vehicle but because of the massive amounts of kudzu and foliage they were uable to find any trace of him or the car.
We have determined that they only way to search the area is to wait until December,
when the foliage has died down, and have a small plane or helicopter conduct an air search. But with that said, we need financial assistance to inititate the search. There is a pilot in Asheville, who has a six-seater plane, that has offered the services of the plane and two spotters at his cost of $1,500.00.
Which is great but my concern is that a plane would not have the mobility that a helicopter would have.
A helicopter would cost about $4,500.00. As I mentioned earlier, we need help to raise the funds to complete the search and I am hoping that you can donate as little or as much as you can.
Austin's family loves and misses him and no matter what has happened we would like to find him sooner rather than later.
