INLAND EMPIRE CORSET RUN hasn't added a story.
The Inland Empire Corset Run first originated in May of 2010. Terri King was asked by Jackson Dodd of Skip Fordyce Harley-Davidson to help celebrate Women Rider's Month in conjunction with a corporate boost of women in Riding. Terri being in the mix of women motorcycle enthusiasts for years and being involved with the ever popular West Coast Thunder Memorial Day Ride had three weeks to put this together.
The concept was to be women, in corsets, flaunting their femininity while riding their motorcycles or on a motorcycle while making stops along the ride at places women would enjoy.
Even with the short notice, women showed up strutting their corsets with smiles and laughter, stopping at Boutique's , Tattoo Parlors, Home Decor Shops, and more. Riding in a group the women garnered attention while going on a hundred mile ride across the Inland Empire. Ending with a Corset Contest, Music, Food & Fun at the Harley Dealership.
People talked about this ride for months and it was decided to make this ride an annual event, however, move the date so it would have more significance and to have the proceeds go to a good cause.
So the following year , it was held at the end of September to kick off Breast Cancer Awareness Month with the proceeds being donated to the cure of breast cancer. Kristen Kunzman of Skip Fordyce Harley-Davidson, had a personal connection with a team that walked in the 3 Day Walk for the Cure every year. So, funds from their walk and the ride went to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
For the second annual event the marketing effort grew. A photo shoot with models in corsets was done, posters and postcards were created and distributed, marketing to men as well as to women. Terri tirelessly spread the word from Los Angeles to San Diego. A web site was created to help sign up riders and vendors and attract corporate sponsors. To create more of an event atmosphere rather than just a ride; food, product vendors, motorcycle demonstrations, and live music were added.
Our third year Our event grew ten fold! With Riders joining us from Northern California, Arizona and Nevada! We were bombarded with supporters we did not expect, and thanks to many of you and your understanding we have incorporated a team to make the event more productive and have a venue that can support us with a large group. Preparing for heat, food and down home hospitality!
This year with the support of The Law Tigers main sponsorship, and Skip Fordyce , Terri is leading the pack once again to bring another year of excitement with the Funnest Run in the IE!
So Join Us,to Help Save 2nd Base in Conjuction with Our ending Venue Big League Dreams, whether you’re on a motorcycle , in a car, or even a motor home to Celebrate Survival, and help support the cure of breast cancer.
