My horse was stolen two years ago while I had her at a boarding facility in VA. I had her there while I made the transition from living in NH to living in FL. The woman who she was boarded with decided to let her friend "borrow" my horse (without my consent) and that girl decided to sell her. Long story short, through newspaper ads, fliers, social media, the internet and Stolen Horse International I was able to locate my horse! As the story unfolded, I learned the terrible story that Layla was sold many times and even ended up with terrible rain rot and blind with two ulcerated eyes in a kill pen at an auction. Thankfully she was bought by a girl who felt sorry for her, treated her and then sold her to a camp in VA. The camp has graciously agreed to return my horse home to me. So now I need to find the funds to get her home to FL.

Layla was my first horse and I bought her as a gangly yearling and trained her on my own. I didn't get on her until she was three so before I could ride her, we walked side by side on miles of trails, she was the best listener. She is more than "just a horse," she is truly my family. When she was younger, she would see me coming to her pasture and break away from the herd trotting to me, then she'd walk, with no halter, by my side to wherever we were going. She truly seemed to prefer my company over other horses. She is a sweet girl with a willingness to please and a gentle spirit. I cannot wait for the moment when I first see her again. It's been a long journey.

Funds are limited and I have pulled together enough to pay board until I can find a "work for board exchange" but adding shipping costs to that is where I am struggling.

Also, when she was stolen, ALL of my things were too (saddle, pads, bridles, halters, brushes, wraps, helmet, blankets, boots etc...) I literally don't have a lead rope or hoof pick to my name. So I am also trying to raise a few dollars to buy some of the daily necessities as well.

Thank you so much for your willingness to consider helping me get Layla home. I really appreciate it.

(Any excess funds raised will be donated to Stolen Horse International who tirelessly work to reunite missing horses and their people)

Sincerely,

Tesha Clark and Layla
