Victoria Thorne hasn't added a story.
I was born 9 weeks premature, and as a result of a complicated birth have Quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy.
I need to make my home wheelchair accessible, I need a bedroom and bathroom on ground level with widened doors and a sensory room where I can relax and learn.
This is my story......
The doctors didn't hold much hope for me, and gave my mummy the devastating news that I would not live past 72 hours at one stage, and although I have been strong and fought on I can not sit, stand, walk, or talk and I am registered blind. I suffer from seizures and have recently had surgery for bilateral hip displacia. I am also prone to chest infections and have been hospitalized 3 times with double pneumonia.
I am reliant on the assistance of my family and carers for all aspects of daily life.
I am nearly 6 almost 7 I go to primary school, (Palatine special needs school)
I live in a house in East Preston, and my bedroom is upstairs. My mummy has to carry me up and down the stairs everyday, which is very hard for her as I am getting too big to carry.
I also have carers that come to look after me sometimes to give my mummy a break, but due to health and safety regulations and insurance policies they are not allowed to carry me up the stairs or lift me around the house, so mummy has to stay close in case I need her. (Which kind of defeats the point!)
It is also very dangerous when mummy has to give me a bath beacuse our bathroom is too small for specialised equipment so she has to lift me in and out and when I am slippery it is very difficult for her.
I need to have my house adapted to accommodate me and my wheelchair, I need a bedroom and bathroom on the ground floor. As well as having doors widened and threasholds lowered for access. And I am hoping to have my dream of my very own multi-sensory room too, where I can relax and conduct my therapies and play.
All of this comes at great expense, we have been told in the region of £60,000.
This will make a huge differnce to my life and to those who care for me, so I am asking for your help......
PLEASE HELP ME TO RAISE £40, 000 TO BUILD ME A BEDROOM AND CHANGE MY LIFE FOR BETTER.
