My Son Joseph is having his hair cut off next week 21st July in Memory of Steve 'Croally' Croall. Money raised will be split between the Croally Croall trust, Sheppey RFC, Medway Dragons RFLC (the two clubs that Steve did and Joseph does play for)and the Samaritans. Some of you may already know about this, but for those of you who don't, please take the time to read. When Joseph heard that Steve Croall had taken his own life, he at first like all us us who knew Steve could, and did not want to believe it. As the reality dawned on all of us Joseph at first became very angry then very upset, and then just wondered why, why, why. As his father I could not answer this question and tried to explain to a Nine year old child that we will probably never know, this of course did not really help, as when you are nine I guess it just doesn't make sense, that a man that you idolise as a person, and try to emulate as a rugby player would do something like that. When Joseph heard about the Croally Croall day and Aston shaving his beard, he asked if he could have his hair cut for Croally? This for anyone would be a brave thing to do, but when you have not had your hair cut for over four years and you are only nine, it was a very bold statement!! We originally thought this was just a nice thing for Joseph to say, but didn't think he was serious. Over the next few months it became obvious that Joe-Joe was very serious and was not going to be put off. When we realised that the Croally Croall day, that the Croall family had organised, clashed with the London Bronco's Home game against Wigan Warriors and Bronco's festival which Joseph was due to play in for Medway Dragons, there was I dilemma, Play or go to the Croally Croall day and have your hair cut? Then someone said why doesn't Joseph have his hair cut after the festival !!!! So this is now the plan. Joseph will have his hair cut off, after the Bronco's game finishes. He hopes to raise lots of money in the memory of Steve Croall, money raised will be split between the Croally Croall trust, Sheppey RFC, Medway Dragons RFLC (the two clubs that Steve did and Joseph does play for)and the Samaritans. Joseph hopes to raise lots of money in memory of Steve, so if he can help his family, the clubs and someone else who is in need of someone to talk to, then loosing his locks will be worth it. Please help him to achieve this. Donate here, Or see me Chris Collier (Joseph's very proud Dad) Steve Croall played for Medway Dragons and Sheppey RFC. On the 25th of July 2011 Steve took his own life aged just 28. During his rugby career he had played for London Welsh, Rotherham Titans and Cambridge amongst others. He had only recently started playing for the Dragons but had made a big impact on and off the field. If anyone requires more imformation please contact me on 07969 684507
