Dominican Starfish Foundation hasn't added a story.
The story of Jackson, Dinora and family is tragic, yet inspiring, sad and yet hopeful.
Here

"adopted ones".

This photo includes all the children who are living in their rented room.
This
was 2 years ago when Disleydy turned 17.
The six who live at home (including the parents) all sleep here. The other two older boys live with other family members.
5
years ago the family traveled to the South of the Dominican Republic
(about 7 hours away) to visit relatives. They found the children had
been abandoned and alone for about a week. They brought them back to
Puerto Plata with them and have cared for them ever since as their
own. The youngest was just a baby at the time.
Three years ago Jackson lost his oldest son in a tragic shooting. He was an innocent bystander at a school. The heartache this caused has been extreme for the family. When they saw these sweet starving children they couldn't leave them behind.
Because of so many generous donors for Giving Tuesday 2022, we have included this family in our campaign. Thank you so much for your donations! They are so appreciated and you will receive a charitable tax receipt!
