Brian Vollhoffer - Windsor Meats on Main hasn't added a story.
Good Morning or whatever it maybe,
I'm Brian Vollhoffer (The Eastvan Batman) and I'm taking part in
my 2nd Aprons for Gloves charity fundraising event. I am honoured to
be back home at The Eastside Boxing Club and am ready to box again in
order to help this gyms staff and members continue their fight of
building a better community for those who call East Vancouver home.
There's many ways that Eastside Boxing continues to help in the growth of an inclusive, healthy and safe community. Listed below are 4 major social initiatives.
1) After school Boxing Program: provides at risk youth with the following; fitness, food, clothing, support, health care, tutors, peer leadership program and scholarships.
2) Young Adult Classes: for youth working to improve their mental health.
3) Free Self Defence Series: for those who identify as female and all members of the LGBTTIQQ2S community are welcome to this safe learning environment.
4) Moms and Tots Boxing Program: for woman who are pregnant or with child/children.
Aside from the programs the gym staff and members also offer comradery but most importantly a safe place.
I'm reaching out to you to ask for a donation regardless of size to help Eastside Boxing Club continue their mission of being an inclusive community focused gym. I'm willing to put my body on the line for the greater good of OUR fam ily, friends, neighbours, and community. Please donate
Thank you.
Founded in 2012, Aprons for Gloves Boxing Association is a non-profit organization focused on providing community outreach through the sport of boxing. Based in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside, the organization was developed by a small group of professionals and entrepreneurs who seized an opportunity to re-establish a historic boxing program for at-risk women and youth. The program offers free mentorship and training to individuals who may otherwise not have the resources or support to participate in such activities. The sport of boxing teaches discipline, respect, hard work and self-control. Training results in positive self-esteem, good health and camaraderie for its practitioners.
Restaurant Rumble 2019
Every year bartenders, chefs, dishwaters, servers, baristas and all sorts of individuals from the Gastown community get together to train at the Eastside Boxing Club to fight in Restaurant Rumble.
In order to attend training, each fighter is required to raise $2000 for charity before they can compete at the Rumble.
