ACT Profile
Aksi Cepat Tanggap (ACT) established in 2005 as a philanthropy foundation that engages all sectors in the community, doesn’t determine religion, ethnic, and race, to raise awareness on the humanitarian issue.
One of the programs is Mobile Social Rescue (MSR), a social issue relief and assistance program for those who in need. Through MSR, ACT helps, facilitates, assists, and advocates the current social issues. Health, educational, economic and infrastructure development programs to raise the community prosperity.
Mrs. Nurhasanah's story
In the midst of 2017, Mrs. Nurhasanah felt the pain on her breast, she examined herself and explored a swelling. She told her colleagues, then they suggested her to see a doctor, but she ignored it. She went to a traditional therapist, got her breast massaged but then her breast became more swollen.
Finally, she went to see a midwife nearby. From the midwife, she was transferred to Health Center in Pandeglang, and she got examined by a doctor. The doctor said she has breast cancer and recommended her to see a specialist. After that, she was referred to a clinic at Pandeglang, but the clinic was closed when she got there. She went back home and canceled to meet the specialist.
Then she decided to go to a traditional therapist and get her breast rubbed with Kapur sirih (lime betel). Unfortunately, her breast are getting swollen, but she ignored it, she believed in traditional treatment.
It has been 2 years, but no sign of recovery. Until her breast burst in 2018, right after the day of Eid. It was watery and contained pus. She is still suffering from pain. It becomes more painful, when she eats meat and jengkol, even though she doesn’t have any food allergies before.
Family info
Nurhasanah’s husband is a freelancer, works a day in a week at the village office. Sometimes he works as labor when needed. He roughly earns IDR 500,000 – IDR 1,000,000 (USD 34.85 – USD 69.70) per month.
They have 3 children. 1 of them is in 6th grade, while the other two are graduated. They live in Kampung Sumur Kopo in Labuan District, Pandeglang Regency, Banten, Indonesia. It is 42 kilometers away from Padeglang where the medical center is located in.
Use of proceeds
The fund collected will goes to her medical treatment in 8 months. In particular, the chemotherapy, hospital accommodation, and cost of medicine, and also her family transportation and accommodation during the treatment.
The targeted funds for Nurhasanah is approximately IDR 57.2million (USD 4,000). 10% fee of the collected amount will be deducted to cover administrative and operating expenses of ACT.
