On February 2, 2014 Simon, an eight week old Pitbull, was surrendered to the Stevens-Swan Humane Society in Utica, NY. His owners were concerned about his disabilities and did not feel they could provide the proper care. They had taken the puppy to an animal hospital when he was only 4 weeks old, but the vet said the dog was far too young to do any surgery or treatment. Simon cannot use his back legs as he should be able to. He seems to be able to almost get himself up and staying, but immediately falls back down and at times even drags his legs. Simon shows determination and will as all he wants to do is play with other dogs and run over to his food bowl even though he can't do so normally. Vets are unsure as to what is causing this anomaly. It is unknown whether he was injured or simply born this way. It is also unknown whether or not he will be able to walk normally or if he'll need the assistance of a wheel chair.

Seeing the strength in spirit this little puppy set the wheels in motion for his rescue. The Stevens-Swan Humane Society sought help for this special needs rescue and when their plea reached a member of Helpers4Shelters, it was answered.

We are asking for your help in raising funds for Simon's neurology consultation and physical therapy & pain management consultation. Your donation is tax-deductible as Helpers4Shelters is a 501c3 non-profit corporation. Of course, donations of any amount are appreciated more than we can express!
