I am Sandra Traver Hasson.  I retired from the American Red Cross in 2012.

The BeBe mission was founded in December of 2012 the day after the Newtown school shooting tragedy. I was devastated at the loss of all those children the same ages as my granddaughters and somehow wanted to do “something” that would in some small way put a light back into the world.

On that awful day in December I thought other babies are alive, they may be ill, they may be victims of a disaster or they may be homeless. While the quilt project was born to memorialize 26 children and my Hearing Ear Dog Baby who has crossed the Rainbow Bridge to play in brighter colors, we have now gifted almost 50 beautiful babies who are  now snuggling under their favorite colors, their favorite stories….and we get to talk to them and their families whenever they have news or need to talk. I am now partnered with Cheryl Brassington Edwards, a Red Cross colleague and dear friend who does all the personalized embroidery which makes each BeBe so personal and special.

The problem we are now having is dwindling funds. I have totally supported BeBe with my own resources as has Cheryl but costs, especially postage are being increasingly an issue.

Also each BeBe is personally designed after consultation with the Mom so each one is colorful and special to the child it is made for.
