Miaru is a village on the south coast of Papua New Guinea, where I got married in 2000. Over the past year, more than 50 people have died of tuberculosis, a treatable illness. Among them was Ovasuru Foe, a 14-year old girl related to my wife. We want to start an immunisation campaign with the help of local health workers through a New Zealand-based charity called Life Skills.
