Like Martin..."Michael love da kids!" The loving, sweet spirited person Michael was and has always been, inspired him to help others both young and elderly. In May of 2011, Michael was diagnosed with cancer. After attending many chemotherapy and radiation sessions, he saw just how many people had to endure this battle alone, unlike him, he always had a friend or family member by his side. By March of 2012, Mike had the idea to pass out gift bags to every wating patient in the Chemotherapy clinic at Stroger Hospital. To pull this off, he pooled with close friends and family members who made donations of both money and supplies to fill the bags. Michael also reached out to his Facebook friends for help. With an overwhelming response, he was able to fill 75 gift bags filled with personal necessaties such as; lip balm, kleenex, bandanas, puzzle books, and pens just to name a few. If that wasn't an act of kindness...Michael decided that he would spread this love on April 30, 2012...his 36th birthday. He touched so many lives that day, and received so much appreciation just from their smiles and hugs alone. His plan, this year was to do the same, only for the children this time. His mother Sandra, and his siblings Jermaine and La'Toya plan to keep his dream alive. This year, we need your help as well. We've researched different avenues and decided to give back to the Pediatric unit at Rush University, where Michael was also treated. After talking with the nursing staff in the Pediatric ward, they've come up with an idea that would benefit all the chidren. The goal is to supply the ward with a "Mobile X-box 360". This would include a small t.v., an x-box 360, and a mobile cart. This way, children who wait patiently before and after procedures, surgeries, and treatments are able to have some much needed "kid time". This is where we ask for your help in reaching our goal of $1,000.00 or more. In completing this goal, the ward has decided to place a plaque honoring Michael T. Bartlett Jr. on the cart that will hold the t.v. and the game system that will be transported from room to room, where needed. We figured, if 100 people donate $10, we can make this happen! Thanking you all in advance, God bless.
