PLEASE LET'S HELP KEYSHAWN :-) **Deadline today** Keyshawn's third hockey season is underway! Although this is only his third season, he is playing against kids who have been playing hockey since they were 4 or 5 years old yet Keyshawn is doing exceptionally well for the difference in experience and he loves it so much!! Keyshawn worked hard this summer earning money for this season. However, after paying for his driver's training course, and other church funds, he was only left with just under $100 to put towards hockey. As most of you may know, ice hockey is a very expensive sport. Each player is required to pay a team fee which covers ice time (total for team fee divided by number of players), the Utah hockey association fee, and required secondary insurance. In addition to having to pay these things (just to be eligable to play), then we are also required to pay for his uniforms, buy all of his skates, sticks, hockey pads, helmets, and team jackets which aren't cheap, even used! He has all of his gear except he is outgrowing his skates (as he is almost 6 inches taller than when we bought his last pair and several skate sizes bigger) but he said he can skate in small skates if he has to. He also recently broke the blade of his stick at practice but can possibly borrow a blade from a teammate. So I consider these expenses optional. This is obviously a rich man's sport, and 'rich' we are not! However, Keyshawn absolutely LOVES hockey and I'd hate the reason he can't play to be because we can't afford it. The dentist has also reccommended a special fitted mouth guard for his front two teeth which have already been replaced from being knocked out (non hockey related) but believes he can get by with a store bought one so I consider this an optional fee as well. After posting this fundrazr originally, only $80 dollars has been raised. We are ever so greatful for this :) however, without the other team fees being paid, Keyshawn will no longer be able to play on the team this season. ANY donation of any amount will be greatly appreciated! I believe donations can be done anonymously as well. If anyone is a business owner and interested in sponsoring Keyshawn for a tax deduction, please email me at waite.jamiejo@gmail.com *NOTE: Receipts and/or tax information can be sent for any donations from the team trustee if needed. Just let me know if you need one. Let's all come together and raise enough money so Keyshawn can hit the ice with everything he needs! The two immediate deadlines are $380.00 due by TODAY (10/24/12) and $380.00 due by Nov. 2. *Anything at all helps!!! Thanks a trillion in advance from Keyshawn and I :-)
