Tanya Willson hasn't added a story.
Lora came into our lives when I was working the emergency shift
at a veterinary hospital one night. She came in through EDCR after
being picked up by animal control. She had been hit by a car and
sustained several injuries. Lora had to have her mandible (upper
jaw) removed from her premolars forward due to severe damage, and a
thoracotomy to repair a diaphragmatic hernia and an abdominal
hernia, along with several laceration repairs! All along having
heartworms that required a course of injections into her back to
slowly kill the worms. Even with all of these injuries she was up
and awake right after surgery giving kisses and wanting to play!
This was all while she was only less than a year old.
Fast forward 3 years and heartworm free. She started having
accidents in the house more frequently and then we noticed blood in
her urine. We initially thought she had a urinary tract infection.
Antibiotics seemed to clear up the blood in her urine but it quickly
returned when the antibiotics ran out. When we took radiographs of
her abdomen we could clearly see she had several VERY LARGE bladder
stones along with several small pebble sized stones. We decided not
to rush into surgery and try the more conservative route of a
special prescription diet that is supposed to help dissolve bladder
stones in dogs. At her 3 week follow up after the diet and another
course of antibiotics, we discovered that the stones had not
decreased in size and that the next course of treatment would be to
remove them surgically (Cystotomy).
Below is the side view of her abdomen. If you couldn't tell
right away, the large pebble shaped white things are NOT supposed to
be there. These are the stones that will need to be removed so she
is able to be pain free and urinate without discomfort and blood
passing.
She has so much love to give and is full of life and having our family of 3 considering so many previous vet bills we had to take care of ,this time unfortunately we can not do it without a little assistance so every dollar you are willing to give for the contribution of our Loras fund we are so grateful for <3 .Thank you so much for helping and lets pray together for our Lora winning one more battle with life !
