Can we give life to a population of children who are currently denied access to such a basic necessity as healthy, clean water?

Here's the sad reality: Almost a quarter of the population of Cambodia, which amounts to a staggering four million people, do not have access to clean drinking water.  

As you can see from some of the stats that the issue is having a huge impact both on the health of Cambodian children and families as well as that of an environmental impact. It’s a situation urgently needing our help.

I had the drinking water tested and the results (below) are very scary. There is a huge contamination of bacteria, turbidity is through the roof and there is a high concentration of Iron/Arsenic.

When I spoke to the lady (pictured above) the tears welled up in my eyes as she spoke of her baby granddaughter dying as a result of drinking this water. No child in this day and age should die as a result of not being afforded access to clean water, but the heart-wrenching reality is that far too many of them are!

There is a solution: It's called a Ceramic Water Filter and for just US$60 we can give life-saving pure water for an entire family of 5. All the units are manufactured in Cambodia so it's a local solution - providing local jobs.

So here's where you come in. For every US$60 donated the team and I will be able to deliver a brand new water filter to a family in need, this will provide them with safe drinking water for 5 years.

As well as saving lives, one water filter (for a family of 5) will also:

• Prevent 50 cases of diarrhoea
• Gain a collective 100 working days due to family members not being sick
• Increase attendance at school by 18.4 days
• Increase the household income by US$176.91

Bamboo the travel company I jointly co-founded with Mark & Steve, has an operation in the city of Siem Reap and we have experienced project staff in-place who will ensure every single donated dollar is spent wisely. Our Bamboo Foundation which is based in New Zealand will receive all donated funds and will audit the project to ensure it is transparent and effective. 100% of all received funds will go to this project.
