Lucky Dog Rescue, Inc hasn't added a story.
Meet Jonas.
This sweet 5-year-old boy was picked up as stray on September 25. He had a neck wound so infected it contained maggots. He also had a severe case of tick fever, and nearly bled to death after neuter surgery. Despite what he has been through, Jonas has a gentle, loving disposition and wags his tail when his eyes meet a kind human.
On October 29, Lucky Huskies, a division of Lucky Dog Rescue, a 501c3 charity was asked to take Jonas into our care, as he was at risk of euthanasia. Despite having other medical cases and mounting veterinary bills, we stepped in to save him. We’re seeing that he gets proper follow-up and medication, and he is in a loving foster home.
Meet Simon
8-year-old Simon was surrendered by his owner, as he was diagnosed with diabetes and thyroid disease and they could not afford his care. This mature and gentle soul is mostly blind due to the diabetes-related cataracts.
Simon is getting daily insulin and thyroid meds, and is thriving in his foster home. He has many years of love to give a generous family, and it’s possible his eyesight could be restored, albeit with costly surgery. Meanwhile, Simon’s medicines are being covered by our rescue.
Meet Eli
2-year-old Eli is a healthy young dog – physically. His special needs are behavioral. We stepped in to save him when we learned that the majority of his young life was spent in a kennel. Eli has needed intense training and socialization, and we’re happy to say he is finally adoptable to an experienced, husky-savvy family. Despite generous discounts from the trainer, Eli’s bill for boarding and training have totaled over $1500.
The Lucky Huskies division of Lucky Dog Rescue was started in May, and since then we have rescued 22 (!) huskies. 17 of them have been adopted into loving homes. Our average costs of veterinary care for these dogs ranges from $500 - $1000, and some cost much more. In early July, we rescued Shanti, a stray whose pelvis was broken in three places after having been hit by a car. Thanks to generous donors, Shanti got the surgery she needed, and is already hiking desert trails with her adoring hu-mom.
We have a generous donor who will match all donations within the next week, up to $1000. That means your donation of $25 is really $50, or your donation of $100 becomes $200. Can you help the huskies? All donations are tax deductibl
