The Women’s Mentorship Program provides international training to women credit union employees from Africa and Asia to provide them with the skills and credibility that will help them break down barriers when they return home from Canada. The program is an annual one month educational program to learn best management practices and leadership training and it also directly addresses the need for financial services for low-income people, including women. The women trained through this program implement new ideas and services to help credit union members save, manage their money, access credit – even support small businesses. By empowering women, the Women’s Mentorship Program helps credit unions alleviate poverty and makes women agents of change in their communities.

The Co-operative Development Foundation of Canada (CDF) is a registered charitable organization. It raises money, mostly from Canadian co-operatives and co-op members, to help alleviate poverty by building and strengthening financial and non-financial co-ops in developing countries. Working with the Canadian Co-operative Association (CCA) and other partners, it helps poor communities fight poverty and create more secure lives through community-owned co-ops. Contributions seed legacies of hope, health, prosperity, education and sustainability. Co-ops build and co-ops last. Our work includes international projects in Africa, Asia and The Americas and the Women’s Mentorship Program.

This campaign aims to raise enought funds to pay for the travel expenses to bring one woman to Canada for the 2015 program. Check out a short video about the 2014 women's mentorsip program graduates:
