Devi was diagnosed with type one diabetes when she was six years old. She is now 19 years old and hoping to go to university next year. Despite constant daily blood tests and insulin injections her diabetes is very difficult to control. She has had three seizures since she was diagnosed. The last seizure was after a full and active day at college. When she came home she was feeling tired so went to sleep. Luckily I finished my work early and found her just in time. She was on her back choking and fitting with her head trapped between the bed and her cabinet.

We want to prevent Devi from having more seizures. At the moment she needs someone to check on her during the night if she's had a busy day in case her blood sugars drop in the night as they often do. Her sugars also go very high and make her very sick. This is also life threatening to Devi and can cause a coma.

A diabetes alert dog will help Devi to keep control of her blood sugars. A dog can pick up the scent of a high or low blood reading up to 30 minutes before it shows on a blood test! It can also get her glucose if she is unable to get it herself. It can also attract attention if she needs help.

The money you donate will pay for a fully trained service dog which is specifically trained for Devi. We need to raise enough to purchase the dog, to pay for vets bill, transport, pet passport and insurance.
