Hello everyone!!! My name is Jose Gallo, and first of all, I would like to thank you for taking time out of your day to read this and hope you can make a donation. I'm starting this fund raiser to help me open my own tattoo shop. Unfortunately there are no loans or grants to help start a business so the next best thing that I can do is ask for help.

I've been tattooing for almost 4 years now and I was working for the same shop for my whole tattoo career. I gave that tattoo shop 2 years of free labor as an apprentice and I work for them longer than any other employee they ever had. In my opinion, and the opinion of many other people that have expressed this to me, I was the best artist that they had. I tattooed on the real world mtv at that shop and helped bring in many customers who still go there to this day.

In late 2013, my boss and manager both approached me and another artist with an expansion idea. We both traveled very far distances to get to work every day and they decided to open up a new shop closer to where we lived. They asked us how we felt about it and if we were willing to work at the new shop. We both knew that it would be hard at first but we decided to go through with it anyways to try to build up our own clientele closer to home. We both told the boss and manager that we were willing to work at the new shop even though it would be a big pay cut but if it didn't work out within a few months we would need to come back to the old shop or we would look for someplace else to work.

Well, a few months went by and the place didn't pick up and the boss and manager really didn't do anything to help it. They did list in the minimal when it comes to marketing and expected the other artist and I to do all the advertising, do all the tattoos and then give them half of the money we made. After working there a few months I was unable to pay my rent I had to move my family of five into my parents house. I express my problems to my boss and my manager but still they did nothing and acted as if it was no big deal. The other artist would only been working with them for about a year express the same issues to them and they decided to take him back to the old shop.  Once this was done I felt betrayed and didn't want to work for these guys anymore so I quit. Now I just work from home to make a little more money than I was before but it's still hard to save up to support a family of five and open a new shop.

(My three boys)

The guys that I was working for we're not tattoo artist and didn't care much about the tattoos all they really cared about was the money. They hired anyone with a tattoo machine and sometimes didn't even care if they were licensed or not. I am a fully licensed tattoo artist and have put in my two years of free labor to get to the position that I was in. I feel very offended you could just hire anyone without having the proper training first and let them tattoo and their shop. I want to open up a place that only welcomes fully license artist who are very talented and can provide people with the best of tattoo work. A place that is inviting and fun for people of all walks of life.
