Admittedly, I adopted Pebbles when I was 19 years old and didn't realize how long cats live or how expensive a vet visit can be. I took Pebbles to the vet last week for her annual exam and vaccinations. It turns out that she has something called Periodontal disease (http://www.avdc.org/periodontaldisease.html) which if left untreated can cause major probelms but thankfully is treatable. The vet says she needs dental x-rays to determine if any teeth need to be extracted as well as a cleaning. Sounds simple enought, right? Unfortunately cleaning requires putting her under which then means prior blood work and subsequent antibiotics and medicines. When the vet was explaining this I couldn't help but see rolling dollar signs. If the x-ray finds 1 or more teeth that need to be extracted the cost can easily jump over $1k.  I called 7+ veterinary clinics to get an estimates and find an office with treatment that I can afford. Normally I would never make one of these fundraiser accounts but Pebbles deserves the care she needs and frankly, I can't afford it right now. She has been eating much less then usual (I think because her mouth hurts) and she needs to be treated as soon as possible. Everything counts and thank you in advance for any and all help. I appreciate it! :)
