Alopecia is a Autoimmune Disease that is not life threatening,The body is allergic to its own hair, causing it to fall out. There is no cure.Once a year CAP kids from around the world come together for Alopeciapalooza! More ...

I am a mother of a special little girl, Lily was my miracle baby, I was told I couldnt have kids and that she wouuldn't make it, we had surgery when she was only two weeks along,I was put on strict bedrest, six weeks early she desided it was her time to come and say Hi! .... Nine years later here we are, Lily first lost all her hair at 18 months after being hospitalized at 15 months for a staff infection, within three months her hair started to fall out,she wouuld regrow her hair with treatment only for it to come and go in cycles, she had just got all of her hair back in andit was the longest it ever has been, a week before she started first grade she was 6 years old, all of her hair fell out including her eyelashes and eyebrows and hasn't returned since. I lost apart of Lily that time I see it missing, in her eyes, After coming home in tears from school, she was being teased on the bus and at school. I had to find some kids like her to show her that she was not alone! I got online and found CAP Children's Alopecia Project, when i showed her what I found and told her about summer camp her face lit up and she started to cry,We cried together and I told her I would try to take me and her, with my income tax return I did just that. Off to North Carolina, North Topsail Beach when she got to see all the kids just like her and she truely knew she was no longer alone. With, her eyes wide open and mouth too, she said "mom they are just like me!!!" her eyes sparkled in shock, happiness, and disbelief and to see her truely smile again, I said to myself as i burst into tears, Oh my God, her smile is back! I can see it ! I could see her smile it in her eyes. Oh dear Lord, thank you!" I promised her at that moment I would make sure we got to camp every year after that! no matter what it takes..... last year was in Michigan at Miracle camp. this year It is in New York,I really need help this year, I have gone back to school full time to better our lives,in doing so, I do not have enough to take us this year, I need help with admission for myself and her sister, as well as travel expenses to take us there and returned... this is the first year I really do need help in getting her to camp, so I can see her truely smile and see it in her eyes again,
