Kelley Pollard hasn't added a story.
In March 2013 Surrey had the ligament repaired in her left back leg. After doing hydrotherapy and rehab she was just starting to regain full motion of her leg when she suddenly woke up one morning in May 2013 and was not able to open her eyes. After a week of testing, different medications and finally a trip to the dog opthamologist, we were told Surrey had glaucoma and had permanently lost vision in her right eye. We were told there was a good chance that in the next 2 years that her left eye would be affected as well. Sure enough, even after regular trips to the opthamologist (hours drive) and three eye drops a day, Surrey woke up on August 19, 2013 and was blind in both eyes. This was devastating to us, but within a week Surrey had shown us that she can overcome anything and was running and playing in the backyard like her old self, even without her vision. After a long and tough year, we thought we were finally at a good place with Surrey and that she had adjusted well with everything. Just last week, on a walk outside, Surrey was kicking up some grass and instantly she went lame on her right leg. After a trip to the vet, we were told her ligament in her right leg has now completely torn and she cannot walk on it at all.
Bottom line is she needs surgery to remove both eyes and to repair the right leg!
