Keith Covington hasn't added a story.
Greetings fellow classmates! As most of you may know by now, Liz Hill
has retired from the front office of the College of Architecture. In
case you did not receive her letter, I am including it below. Stan
Rabun has reached out to alumni asking that they consider a
contribution to an "appreciation pool" that will be given to
Liz at the end of April. I have not been approached by anyone, so I
set up this Facebook group specifically for this effort on behalf of
alumni I'm connected with on Facebook. I would encourage you to join
this group and share it with other fellow classmates. From the
Facebook page we can set up a mechanism by which those who wish to
participate can. There is absolutely no obligation to contribute, but
I hope we can show Liz how much she meant to the University of
Tennessee's College of Architecture!
Thanks,
Keith Covington
FROM LIZ:
To all of my students who graduated from this
program from 1979-2013 it was a pleasure working with you and seeing
you grow to such great people in your chosen profession. I feel even
more honored to have you trust me to help your children go through the
same process that you did as a student here. But it has come time for
me to say enough is enough and move on to whatever life holds for me.
As of February 28th, 2014 I will be retiring from The University of
Tennessee and the College of Architecture and Design.
From the first day that I started working in the School of
Architecture my main priority has been the students: to know as much
about them personally and professionally; to make sure that they had
enough sleep and food; and to make sure that they were managing their
time well. I never tried to be a mom figure; I never tried to make
their life easy. I just wanted them to know that life is not easy,
nothing is given to you for free and that they would have to work hard
to achieve their goal.
I have helped thousands of students over 30+ years in the School
of Architecture at the University of Tennessee and there will never be
another Liz Hill helping thousands of students in the same way I did
at the School of Architecture. Therefore I wish the best for all of
the alumni, students, faculty and staff of the College of Architecture
and Design.
You can contact Marleen Davis or Stan Rabun and they can inform
you of my retirement wishes.
Again thank you for the privilege of serving you.
