We need to raise £750.00 to pay for eye surgery for our very recently rescued, 1 year old stray dog, Blossom. She had double entropion of her bottom eyelids and was in an enormous amount of discomfort. Insurance refuse to cover it and I am about to be made redundant.

We adopted Blossom from a rescue shelter in Spain and called her Blossom as she has a flower shaped mark in her fur and we hoped that she would 'blossom' into a happy secure dog with us. You know when you hear people say that they have rescued a dog and actually it may be that the dog has rescued them - well, that is definitely the case with our Blossom.

I saw Blossom on the website of a local charity and knew that she had to come to us.  So, I sold lots of stuff on eBay and facebook to pay for her travelling and spaying costs.

She arrived with us in November 2013 and had sticky eyes.  A simple case of conjunctivitis, which cleared up with treatment from the pet shop. We had taken out pet insurance and were confident that we had all bases covered.

One evening she was sitting next to me on the sofa, I was stroking her face and talking to her and noticed that she had something in her eye. When I looked closer I realised that it was her bottom eyelashes - in both eyes.

We took her straight to the vet, who diagnosed double entropion, both of her bottom eyelids were folded backwards  into her eyes - but it was very difficult to see and not noticable unless you actually looked for it.

Her surgery was complicated, as the vet operating on her said it was the worst case of entropion he had ever seen - not only were her eyelids folded inwards, they were actually rolled up into her eyes.

The pet insurance company said that as this is something that she must have come to us with, they woudn't cover it. We couldn't leave it and explained to the vet, who gave us a generous discount on the cost. We have had several return trips and medications to ensure that the surgery had the best outcome.

We are already making monthly payments to clear the insurance excess vet fees for our beloved old dog who passed away in September last year and last week I discovered that I am to be made redundant.  We need some help.  Please!

We wouldn't be without our beautiful girl and her eye surgery has made her into a much happier and less stressed dog.  She is learning to play with toys and, finally, be a puppy :)
