BulldogCoffeehouse US hasn't added a story.
In Francis's own words:
“After twelve months of multiple physical exams with Doctors, seven cystocopy's, high amounts of blood in urine daily, and frequent severe pain keeping me from working regularly a little more than two months ago a bigger problem arose from these symptoms that now has created a problem I am asking for your help on.
While at my hospital for a visit, due to fatigue and increasingly severe pain and bleeding, in late March there was one more cystoscopy (internal look at my organs) taken of my insides and two tumors on the bladder lining showed up in the video. Doctors felt they had to be taken out and the full surgery was scheduled conducted on 4/25/13. During my recovery from the tumor surgery, on May 10th a surgical team meeting was held with me where the results of the biopsy of each tumor was discussed and the small one was considered a non-issue tumor the large tumor was classified a high-grade tumor confirming that I have bladder cancer. The cancer is treatable, but left unchecked could become invasive beyond the bladder. Plan of action agreed upon by myself and surgical team was they could destroy the cancer surgically and it would take two more immediate full-scale operations in the bladder, now scheduled for this coming Wednesday, June 12th and Aug 1st and it had a high likelihood of destroying the cancer with minimal chance of resurgence. This involves two long periods of convalescence from now up through early September, which is now causing my financial hardship..
The cancer will most likely be removed by the September test results, but the impact personally has been large due to my under-employment and loss of all of savings to cover the various expenses, since this all started, and limited to no income since late January. And with absolutely no insurance, no chance of income through August maintaining personal living expenses (food, rent, utilities type of expenses), which up to April (for April the generosity of friends, that didn’t even have it to give, got me through all the expenses because my savings ran out end of March) were covered is in jeopardy, and my recovery apartment and living expenses place great stress on the situation forcing me to turn to people's kindness and support to maintain through this trying time until I can be released to go back to temp employment and fulltime employment by end of September and rebuild my health and my funds from there. I estimate my expenses and anesthesiology hospital costs to be over $12,000 at minimum and with added hospital costs coming ( this doesn’t even take into account that I might risk the option of being forced to have a hospital stay if anything goes wrong during these procedures) over the summer this number will grow even further and I cannot find a way to pay for what I need done now, I have hit the worst wall in my life.”
Please, if you can, give a little bit to a man who gives his all each and every day. It's a lot of money for one good person who isn't able to work to come up with it.. It’s a lot less money if people affected by this story chip in small amounts.
I am overwhelmed. "I'm staying as relaxed as I can, and I understand that lots of people have personal bills and those from procedures at the hospital- but I am at a time that I consider hitting the brick wall and need to reach out for help and caring.. I'm just scared that this might mean bankruptcy and I really want to avoid that by all means. The hospital and everyone deserve to get paid...I am and will be getting wonderful care...but how I'm supposed to afford these expenses to regain my health is beyond me."
We've set it up so that the donations go directly to Francis' Paypal account so that he can start using the support immediately. At the very least we are hoping to raise enough to cover the living expenses during his recoveries and buy him some time. Thank you for your support!
