Hava and her sister, Hilda, had been together their whole lives, and then all of a sudden everything changed. The home that they had always known was gone, and their Mom had gone into a nursing home, and they were in a scary place with lots of different smells and sounds. They knew they were loved, but since their Mom was a bit older, they didn't get all the medical care they needed....their teeth needed cleaning, their eyes were cloudy, they had some masses that they didn't know what they were, and they were a little bit older, 9 and 10 years old. They saw lots of dogs come and go from around them, but they were still there....what would happen to them? Would they be able to find a home? Would they even be able to stay together? They loved each other so much and hoped for a miracle.....and then the miracle came. Some nice people came to the shelter and took them to the vet, and then they met their new Foster Mom, Susan, who opened her home to two adult ladies who deserved to be together. The shelter celebrated, they celebrated and we celebrated. They got the care they needed, they got their teeth cleaned, they ate good food and got good exercise, and were feeling good. Life was getting back to normal. Then a couple days ago, Hava didn't feel so well. She didn't want to move...she stayed in her bed all day. Foster Mom Sue was a smart lady and knew that something was wrong, and she called DRSF's wonderful Dr. Wong who saw them late last night and confirmed the news that brings fear into our hearts as we know that we can't say no....Hava needed IVDD surgery and she needed it quickly. She had slipped two discs in her neck, and so, with her happily ever after still in front of her, DRSF got her the care she needed, and tonight, after a stressful day for all of us, Hava is resting comfortably at Southeast Veterinary Neurology under the care of their wonderful Team. Hava is DRSF's 15th IVDD surgery and our plan has always been the same for the dogs who need us.....raise the funds after each dog so we are ready for the next. Our community has been there us 14 other times and we hope that you will be there for us on our 15th time helping a little one who suffered an injury that they in now way asked for, but need our help to get better and get to realize DRSF's dream for all our dogs.....a family of their very own. Won't you make a small donation to help us reach our goal, as we have learned, the next one who needs our help is not far behind.....
